Marlon Brewer

Marlon Brewer studied art at Jones college in 1982. Afterward, he continued his education at Delta State University, where he studied under his now-mentor Sammy Britt, and completed a BFA in Painting and Sculpture in 1989. Brewer now resides in Jones County, Mississippi.

“I believe that true, pure beauty is found in the simplicity of nature and in all things. It is an origin from which we can slow down and see the creation of the Almighty Father. Mother Earth will embrace, nurture, and console us in our moment of need if we can only take the time. It is all much greater than we could ever be. Therefore, she carries on with her mission at her leisure and marches without a timepiece.

All of this and life itself can be witnessed in a cow pasture, a lot, or a field. Trees are mere actors and pieces placed in the production directed by a living God. I see this woven in the Mississippi landscape. Delta air or Coastal mist…even pastures set the stage.

I love Mississippi. It breathes life and atmosphere. I wish to paint this with the same intensity as painting a loved one. Mississippi is my forever mortal home. I wish to always show her in a good light.”
