Laura Payne Pennebaker is an oil and watercolor artist from Birmingham, AL. Laura graduated from the University of Mississippi in 2001 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with her emphasis in painting. While at Ole Miss, Laura studied under Jere Allen and grew to love painting with lots of color and movement. She also spent two summers in Taos, NM and Cortona, Italy painting plein air with Southern Methodist University as well as the University of Georgia. Through all these experiences, Laura has developed a loose painterly style that is filled with color and lots of layers.

Laura and her husband Adam, lived in Hattiesburg 15 years where they loved raising their three children Payne, Nell, and Walt before moving to Birmingham 2020. Birmingham has been a wonderful and welcoming community with beautiful scenery that is the subject of many of her new paintings.
