The colors and the patterns of the fertile corner of the world I live in evoke an emotional response in me. Landscapes - natural & manmade, external and internal - and the people, plants and animals that inhabit it have always been an inspiration for me. The music that same landscape inspires dictates the rhythms of my art.
I attempt to freeze a moment in a continually spinning world in order to study it and hold it up for otheres observe and perhaps understand a little better.
I embrace the theory of America as a melting pot. Patterns and motifs that cross cultural boundries creep into my work at moments that catch me by surprise.
At times I view my work as "Art" with a capital "A", teamed with Truth and Beauty. Other times I have to give a nod to Oscar Wilde and substitute "art" for "life" when he quipped that life is much too important to be taken seriously. At those times, I find myself a playful note sidles into my work and encourages me to play with various images and media.
