It's time to shine a little light on our one of our favorite makers, John Haltom of Roxie Woodworks. Haltom makes custom furniture out of local trees. At his shop, the entire process from stacking the slabs to the intricate joinery and sanding process take place. Haltom uses both traditional hand tools, as well as large, motorized equipment.
Haltom has been woodworking since he was a child. He was the youngest person ever to be admitted into the Mississippi Craftsman's Guild at 16. Haltom honed his skills in Seattle, Washington, where he worked as a carpenter and craftsman. He also met his wife, Katey, in Seattle and eventually moved back to Mississippi where he started Roxie Woodworks.
We have two Roxie Woodworks benches in the gallery that are available for purchase. Both are made from gorgeous local wood with joinery details.
Come by to see Haltom's beautiful work Thursday-Saturday 12-6 or happily by appointment!
