The Oxford Treehouse Gallery and Event Venue is excited to feature the work of photographer, Ashleigh Coleman during the month of March. Coleman’s exhibit is titled Piece of Heart. The show will be featured and available for purchase in our gallery within the Gallery, The Roost. The reception will be on Saturday, March 10th from 5 to 8 pm.
Coleman’s work explores family, landscape, and southern identity. Her roots are in the mountains of Virginia, midlands of South Carolina, and now in the heart of Mississippi. Piece of Heart is an exploration of the six years she spent in Toccopola, Mississippi wrestling with her own identity and place.
“Like many small communities, you can drive through Toccopola and not even realize you have done so,” Coleman explained. “Yet, as I adjusted to new rhythms, there emerged, slowly, the unquenchable desire to make sense of the, at times, imperceptible changes occurring and to show the beauty amidst decay.”
Oxford Treehouse Gallery is proud to have the opportunity to display Ashleigh Coleman’s work. We also look forward to feature works by Melanie Munns in April and painter Paul Fayard in May. A goal of Oxford Treehouse Gallery is to share this space with other artists and to provide the public with a fine art experience in an unconventional gallery setting in beautiful Lafayette County, MS.
The reception for Piece of Heart by photographer Ashleigh Coleman will be on Saturday, March 10th from 5-8 p.m. The exhibit will be up until the first week of April. Oxford Treehouse Gallery hours are Thursday-Saturday 12-6 and happily by appointment.
